Wax Digital Announces carbon neutral procurement for businesses concerned with their bottom line
There's hardly a boardroom in the land that hasn't at least discussed cutting its carbon footprint in the last 12 months, but to most senior management concerned with the bottom line, 'green' can often come at a premium.
Wax
Digital has today launched a programme to advise businesses on how to procure
products and services with both the environment and cost in mind - and without
the former adversely affecting the latter.
"There's good evidence that environmental issues are key to purchasing decisions, but that cost is often the overriding factor for businesses not being more carbon neutral," said Daniel Ball, Director, Wax Digital.
"Businesses that centralise their procurement department at head office for example, may often source products and services from a central supplier - when there is a clear commercial and environmental case for some local procurement by regional offices to cut the miles that products travel to their final destination.
"Through an eProcurement system it's possible to weight certain factors in favour of suppliers from an environmental point of view - so even if a cheaper quote is given, distance from its final destination may be taken into account first."

Whilst this may be the more expensive option, the extra costs can be offset by other financial savings elsewhere in the business - identified via an eProcurement system that can reduce spend by as much as 41%.
"Green really doesn't have to mean more expensive, it's just a case of finding where else you can make savings in your business to offset the cost of becoming carbon neutral," said Daniel Ball.
"Further more, it's now becoming a key requirement for businesses to show what they are doing to reduce their impact on our environment - which can only be a good thing."
